体積の計算

ある立体がありその断面積が変数 $3$x$ の関数 $3$\displaystyle{ S $x$ }$ として表せるとき，区間 $3$\displaystyle{ \[ a,b \] }$ の立体の体積は，定積分を用いて

$3$\displaystyle{V=\int _{a}^{b} S $x$ dx }$

となる．この立体の体積を求める定積分は，下図のように輪切りにした微小断片の和であると考えるとよい．

関数 $3$\displaystyle{ f $x$ }$ が区間 $3$\displaystyle{ \[ a,b \] }$ で $3$\displaystyle{ f $x$ \geq 0 }$ であるとき，曲線 $3$\displaystyle{ y=f $x$ }$ と $3$x$ 軸で挟まれた区間 $3$\displaystyle{ \[ a,b \] }$ の部分を $3$x$ 軸で回転させたときにできる回転体の体積は，断面積が $3$\displaystyle{ S $x$ ={\pi}{ \{ f $x$ \} }^{2} }$ であるから

$3$\displaystyle{V={\pi}\int _{a}^{b} { \{ f $x$ \} }^{2}dx }$

となる．
