対称式

対称式： $3$\displaystyle{ a,b,c,\cdots }$ の多項式において， $3$\displaystyle{ a,b,c,\cdots }$ のどの2つを入れ替えても，もとの式と同じになるものを $3$\displaystyle{ a,b,c,\cdots }$ の対称式という．

■具体例

$3$\displaystyle{ a,b }$ の対称式
- $3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}- ab+{b}^{2}}$
- $3$\displaystyle{{ $ ab $ }^{2}- a- b}$
$3$\displaystyle{a,b,c}$ の対称式
- $3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}+{b}^{2}+{c}^{2}}$
- $3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}bc+{b}^{2}ca+{c}^{2}ab}$

基本対称式： $3$\displaystyle{ a,b }$ の対称式の中で， $3$\displaystyle{a+b,ab}$ を 基本対称式といいます． $3$\displaystyle{a,b,c}$ の対称式の中で， $3$\displaystyle{a+b+c,ab+bc+ca,abc}$ を基本対称式という．一般に，対称式はその基本対称式で表すことができる．

$3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}- ab+{b}^{2}={ $ a+b $ }^{2}- 3ab}$
$3$\displaystyle{{ $ ab $ }^{2}- a- b={ $ ab $ }^{2}- $ a+b $ }$
$3$\displaystyle{ {a}^{2}+ {b}^{2}+ {c}^{2} }$ $3$\displaystyle{= { $ a+ b+ c $ }^{2} - 2 $ ab+ bc+ ca $ }$
$3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}+{b}^{2}+{c}^{2}}$ $3$\displaystyle{={ $ a+b+c $ }^{2}- 2 $ ab+bc+ca $ }$
$3$\displaystyle{{a}^{2}bc+{b}^{2}ca+{c}^{2}ab=abc $ a+b+c $ }$

入試問題においては，対称式を基本対称式で表すことにより計算できる問題がよくある．
