kerf：線形写像fの核

ベクトル空間 $3$\displaystyle{V}$ 上の任意の元 $3$\displaystyle{\displaystyle{x}}$ の線形写像 $3$\displaystyle{f}$ による像 $3$\displaystyle{f\left({\displaystyle{x}}\right)}$ の内， $3$\displaystyle{ f\left({\displaystyle{x}}\right)=\displaystyle{0} }$ となる $3$\displaystyle{\displaystyle{x}}$ の集合

$3$\displaystyle{\left{{ \displaystyle{x}|\displaystyle{x}\in V,f\left({\displaystyle{x}}\right)=\displaystyle{0} }\right}}$

のことを

$3$\displaystyle{\text{ker}f}$ 　(「 $3$\displaystyle{V}$ の $3$\displaystyle{f}$ による核」という． )

で表す．

すなわち

$3$\displaystyle{\text{ker}f=\left{{ \displaystyle{x}|\displaystyle{x}\in V,f\left({\displaystyle{x}}\right)=\displaystyle{0} }\right}}$

となる．
